ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the flexible learning day which is organised through the use of diaries. The main teaching approach is differentiated learning, in which groups of children at different ability levels work together on the same topics, each learning as much as they can in their own ways. The staff plan for differentiation both of task (the activities and resources the children work with) and of learning outcome. The aim is that people accept that they achieve different levels and everyone tries to do their own best. The curriculum must be challenging and based on high expectations of everyone in the school, building on their skills and achievements.
