ABSTRACT
In this chapter, we’ll explore the horizon of international Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) legislation, and look at some of the regulatory frameworks adopted around the world. We’ll also consider the history of safety law, and look at some of the events and legal landmarks that helped to shape it.
We’ll explore how the regulatory bodies that oversee the legislation are instrumental in providing encouragement, instruction and enforcement, consider its principles and limitations, reflect on some of the factors that hold back safety legislation, and speculate on its future.
