ABSTRACT

Suddenly library security was being discovered by publications which had generally disregarded the topic. The segment dealing with library security was more a summary of short blurbs and throwaway items which appeared in the pages of Library Journal. The Times gave more coverage in two months to library security than Library Journal gives in twelve. The problem with Library Journal is that the items of interest to those concerned with library security are merely one-inch reports. Hidden away in the back pages of the Times there continues to be fascinating items of interest to those of us in the library and museum security field. The September 7, 1980 Times told of two devices which could be used in the fighting of forgery. Neither device, although patents were granted, has as yet been marketed.
