ABSTRACT
The deviant culture of homosexuality has ways of making fun of the “normative” culture around it, by virtue of its normative characteristics. Then normality bercomes strang and invites ridicule. To call a straight person a “vanilla het” is a double insult. But more disturbing is to refuse the preferred labels of either. This is an inherently political challenge.
