ABSTRACT

This chapter presents the changes in health care and trends affecting contemporary medical practice. Those responsible for the successful management of medical practice must first understand change and must learn to use the agents of change to enhance clinical and operating systems. The chapter defines agents of change that affect both the clinical and administrative operations of a medical practice. It identifies factors for potential success or failure within your practice or system and measures the effects of potential agents of change upon accomplishment of targeted goals. The chapter aligns resources toward accomplishment of business targets determined to be influential predictors of success for ones practice. It determines the current status and past trends of each component, activity, and/or measurement of importance in your practice or system that is associated with success of the organization.
