ABSTRACT

The tomb in question was seen by Wilkinson, Champollion, Rosellini and Lepsius who all copied a number of texts, mainly names and titles and gave very brief descriptions of the scenes to which they pertained. The directions of the hieroglyphs, copied in their original direction by Lepsius, give valuable clues to the position and appearance of the scenes. Apart from the entry in the Topographical Bibliography notes were published by Champollion and Lepsius. Valuable information is to be found in the diary of Lepsius. Wilkinson also mentioned the tomb in his note books and copied a few inscriptions, and Rosellini included some names and titles in his diary. Names and titles were included in Helck, Urk.Ubersetzung, and Materialien. According to Champollion the wall-paintings were neat. They were covered by a 'very brilliant varnish'. The tomb was located in the plain at Sheikh Abd el-Qurna to the east of TT 343.
