ABSTRACT
On January 1,2000, the whole world began a great unprecedented global celebration. Millions of dollars supported parades, light shows, special editions, concerts, extravaganzas, and fireworks, which lit up the skies from Fiji to Fredonia. For the six billion humans alive in 2000, this was the supreme moment of merrymaking-and apprehension.
