ABSTRACT
This chapter trusts that Linda would convey the honesty, the difficulty, the goofiness and, most important, the sacredness of our lives together. It believes that she has achieved that and more. The blood, sweat, and tears that spilled over this book have been referred to in some of the columns. What is really difficult to explain, however, is how much it has changed our lives. From each rough draft to each neatly typed column, we engage in a process that probably would not otherwise have happened. The chapter discusses and argues watched old belief systems crumble, laughed and cried over every issue that every question from a reader brought up. The process itself challenged us to develop a deeper level of communication, understanding, intimacy, and playfulness all under the guise of meeting a deadline. Maureen Stevens can't say whether it was conscious or unconscious, spoken of directly or indirectly understood.
