Introduction

Goth Music: From Sound to Subculture is the fruit of a collaborative effort between a musicologist and a literary critic that began as a much more general discussion of goth ¹ music and subculture at the unlikely location of a hotel pool area in Orlando, Florida, at the International Conference for the Fantastic in the Arts in 2012. It was there that the authors discovered not just a shared interest in goth music, but also deep roots in the goth scene.
