ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. Britney G Brinkman calls upon teachers, school administrators, and mental health professionals to apply such a justice-oriented framework to the problem of bullying. She examines the ways that bullying and harassment often overlap-drawing upon scholarship in both areas to provide a theoretical base as well as practical applications. Further, she asserts that a social constructivist perspective will expand people thinking about how identity-based bullying impacts children's meaning making and identity development. Promoting social justice within school systems can be challenging and draining work at times, but it can also be inspirational and positive. The author primarily focused on schools and how they can best prevent and respond to identity-based bullying. In addition to exploring ways that schools can refocus on social justice, it is essential to examine how other social institutions can promote the values of a diverse society.
