ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book has shown that there is a clear historical link between drama education and Dramatherapy and the author feel it is important that teachers and therapists alike recognise the common historical ground between their professions. It argues that drama educators and Dramatherapists have future room for dialogue within the space that is in between both professions. One of the key messages of this book relies on both drama teachers and Dramatherapists making paradigm shifts in their thinking about their practice. Additionally, from a drama education perspective Neelands has consistently argued for a pro-social as opposed to a pro-technical approach to drama in education. Ultimately, what is important is power and possibilities of drama in all its forms, be it educative or therapeutic, and the potential positive impact that it can have on the young people we all work with and serve.
