ABSTRACT

All of the areas of concern and criticism regarding children and television are linked to what children watch and for how long. The positive and negative consequences of television viewing effects and all the topics addressed in our text (e.g., reality perceptions, comprehension, parental involvement in television viewing) begin with the simple act of program selection and viewing. Therefore, the study and documentation of viewing habits becomes the necessary first step in the understanding of the effects of television on child behavior.
