ABSTRACT
The Snell Exhibitions 2 to Balliol College, Oxford, which are made available to approved scholars born and educated in Scotland from the revenue of the estate of an Ayrshire landowner, John Snell (1629–67), have had a felicitous effect on Scottish education.
