ABSTRACT
It would be foolish to discard such a convenient and easily scored instrument as the self-report of personality, attitudes or interests, so long as we recognize its weaknesses and accept it simply as one method of approach to a person's conceptual system. Either skilled interviewing, or some of the techniques discussed in the next chapter, may yield more reliable information, derived from less superficial layers of the self, but the inventory still possesses positive advantages.
