ABSTRACT
There are at least three major tasks facing the student of the acquisition of their native language by small children. One of these has already been introduced in Chapter 2 and concerns explanations of the fact of language development, the second seeks explanations for the course of development and the third involves descriptions of different aspects of the child’s linguistic system.
