ABSTRACT
In May of 2003, protests swept through Peru with lightning speed. President Alejandro Toledo had been elected the year before, replacing quasi-dictator Alberto Fujimori, who had fallen from power in 2001 when videos were leaked to the media conclusively demonstrating deep corruption at the highest levels of government.
