ABSTRACT

Before you read this chapter please look again at the diagram of the planning cycle below to remind yourself of the process. It is essential to keep reminding yourself that planning is part of an ongoing cycle and that today's plan in action leads directly to the plan for tomorrow: tomorrow's plan in action leads directly to the plan for the day after. You start by observing the children, taking notes on what you see and hear. You analyse this, looking for key points about children's interests, advances, achievements or struggle. On the basis of that you plan what to offer next. You then set up the activity you have planned, together with the resources, physical and human. Then you observe what happens in the activity and the whole process starts again.
