ABSTRACT

Once the changes set in motion begin to take effect, the school begins to move, and the journey has started. From our discussions with those involved, the school feels different. The context for change is itself changing and the change processes must adapt accordingly. We have termed this period the acceleration stage largely because the pace of change at this time seems to quicken. This quickening of the pace may have been illusory, a reflection of the number of initiatives set in motion, the scope and scale of the changes being implemented and the changed climate in the school, conditions palpably different from those at the start of the journey.
