ABSTRACT
The 2008 Global Financial Crisis took much of the shine off of the environmental agenda. While it didn’t stop being cool to go green and it didn’t stop being convenient to go Al Gore’s shade of neoliberal environmentalist green, environmental policies were eschewed by many states’ leaders because their environmental debts to future generations seemed less pressing than their economic debts to present populations.
