ABSTRACT

The aim of this chapter is not to present a comprehensive review or discussion on phenomenology in philosophy, nor a critical investigation and reading of existing phenomenological trends, but rather to introduce an ‘architectural reading’ of ‘phenomenological discourse’ in philosophy, with an intentional focus on that body of discourse which has influenced and affected phenomenological discourse in architecture and prepared a departure point for architectural theorists and architects in their architectural contemplation and practice.
