ABSTRACT
The urban water cycle is a relatively new concept (Cabrera and Custodio, 2013). Even if all early civilizations had large waterworks in order to secure good access to water for their citizens, the generalized establishment of urban supply did not start worldwide until the middle of the 19th century.
