ABSTRACT
Learning and development can help to motivate employees and encourage them to make greater efforts to perform well, as you have already seen in Chapter 4. It is also important, in a knowledge-based and fast changing economy, that employees are willing and able constantly to upgrade their skills, and this means a commitment by both employers and employees to continuous learning, both individually and collectively, and to sharing the knowledge that is created through that learning.
