ABSTRACT
Beyond a certain point in training, transfer became an invariable property of the data, occurring on every possible occasion and in that uncanny diversity of forms which is possible only in such a system as language. Yet the outstanding feature of transfer is not its ultimately invariant occurrence, to v/hich we became accustomed all too readily, but its almost complete absence in the earliest stages of training.
