ABSTRACT

Wprost (Directly, or Straight Talk) is the third-biggest-selling Polish newsweekly (after Polityka and Newsweek Polska ), founded in 1982 with a circulation of just under 200, 000. It has a liberal and business-related orientation, specializes in eye-catching covers, and frequently publishes rankings of schools, hospitals, banks, the country’s wealthiest people and so forth. Wprost has had a succession of editors-in-chief, most recently media star Tomasz Lis, who continues to work as a television journalist and interviewer of prominent people. He has been mentioned as a possible candidate for Polish president. The following text was the lead article of the issue published on 30 January 2010. The cover shows a black man mustachioed and dressed in the manner of a 17th-century Polish nobleman. https://s3-euw1-ap-pe-df-pch-content-public-p.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/9781315883724/f1ec34ee-0050-45f0-bb21-227ec0c07bdd/content/ufig4_1_B.jpg" xmlns:xlink="https://www.w3.org/1999/xlink"/>
