ABSTRACT

The previous chapters focused on how human action always presupposes a given context, constituted by social structures, which have a causal power on human action and are, like human agents, a dynamic entity that is transformed through time. But the causal powers of social structures, and their transformation through time, still require further elaboration. In the present chapter, I argue that through the category of organisation, we can better understand the causal powers of social structures. Afterwards, in the following two chapters, I address the topic of the transformation and evolution of structures through time.
