ABSTRACT
We will begin Chapter 2 by first considering some of the main causes of school absenteeism and truancy. These can be ascertained in much more detail in two of my previous books, Truancy and Schools (Reid, 1999: esp. Ch. 4–6) and Managing School Attendance: Successful Intervention Strategies for Reducing Truancy (Reid, 2013: esp. Ch. 2–5).
