ABSTRACT

This chapter provides an overview of the technical and operational details of the light tanks. The types of the light tanks are Steyr SK105 Krassier, Creusot-Loire AMX-13/90, Vickers/FMC Battle Tank Mk 5, Cadillac M41A3 Walker Bulldog and Cadillac M24 Chaffee. SK105 Krassier is based on the chassis of the Saurer 4K 7FA APC, the Krassier was developed in the second half of the 1960s and entered production in 1971. AMX-13/90 is upgunned variant appeared in the early 1960s, and is similar to the Modle 51/75 apart from its main armament, a 90-mm weapon in the same FL-10 turret. M41 is the M41 light tanks operated by the Thai army are being upgraded to M41GTI standard by two West German concerns. M24 Taiwan is essentially similar to the Norwegian model, but the Taiwanese have also developed a flamethrower version in which the flame gun replaces the bow machine-gun.
