ABSTRACT

This book set out to present various aspects of mobile working. At the beginning, review objectives were stated along with the definition of key terms. The second chapter described some of the main mobile devices such as 3G phones, PDAs and Bluetooth as well as technologies such as WiFi along with connectivity and access issues. The third chapter dealt with ‘what is mobile working’ and types of mobile workers such as blue collar workers and white collar workers. It also covered some of the major benefits of mobile working, for instance: flexibility, productivity, cost savings and drawbacks such as social problems and technology limitations. Chapter four illustrated some real world cases of mobile working implementations. Chapter five was a discussion of the key issues related to mobile working, for example, organizational issues, social issues, technology limitations, technology acceptance and cost benefit, etc.
