ABSTRACT
This chapter provides a brief overview of the reaction of the Chinese state to the Uyghur movement. While the issue has been extensively examined in China-related political science literature, Beijing's handling of the WUC and the Uyghur diaspora in general is necessarily an essential element of any study of Uyghur mobilization.
