ABSTRACT

Health and comfort effects caused by environmental stressors can be assessed in different ways. Depending on the field of expertise, goals and methods applied differ, but in general the steps or stages applied are the same: problem definition, design and planning, implementation, data management and analysis, and reporting. In this chapter these steps are discussed, and an attempt is made to present common study designs for a number of fields (epidemiology, psychology, clinical medicine, toxicology and product design).
