ABSTRACT
Analysis of data from Hong Kong indicates that for males the marriage premium tends to fade with age. That is, older married males do not appear to be happier than single males of the same age. This suggests that for men marriage may not matter that much to happiness over the long run. For females, the results appear mixed. In one survey the marriage premium in happiness is higher for older women than for younger women. In another the marriage premium is smaller for older women.
