ABSTRACT

Fortitude is just another word for resilience. When things are going smoothly fortitude is not needed and even forgotten, and so Fortitude does not appear to carry a big coefficient in the regression of happiness against the LIFE variables. But it is really important, because most likely each of us will go through some tough times through life. When times are tough the one who perseveres will emerge from the difficulties stronger, wiser and happier, whereas the one who gives up and can’t muster the courage to bounce back rarely recovers.
