It will be recalled that the dawn of 1912 saw the Company in high hopes of being awarded the contract for the Imperial Chain of wireless stations. When, in March 1912, the tender was signed, it seemed that nothing could prevent the fulfilment of Guglielmo Marconi’s greatest dream.
