The Staff and Administration

England, Scotland and Ireland each possessed their own establishments, staffs and command structures. Within each country the army was a separate entity, each owing allegiance to Charles II, but otherwise independent. England was the largest of the three standing armies, and without exception the administrative methods practised there were echoed in the other two.
