ABSTRACT

Three years after the mortal remains of 81-year-old Mrs. Leade had been laid to rest in Bunhill Fields cemetery by Richard Roach, the millenarian spirit revived at Purley in Surrey. According to him: ‘several persons, who had been concerned in the First, appeard and bore their Testimony again, yet in such a Manner under the Conduct and Protection of the Spirit as not to be expos'd to Injuries and Insults as before’. 49 These new millenarians were Camisards from France, so called because they wore their shirts outside their breeches. 50
