Emergency Measures

The education act, 1944, faced those who had to administer it with a multitude of problems and a mass of work. Some of the latter had to be begun at once and done very quickly, for the bulk of the Act was due to come into operation on 1st April 1945, less than seven months after its passing in early August 1944.
