The First Schools

Each of the Company’s schools was to have three departments, Preparatory, Junior and Senior, under a headmistress with the same powers and duties as the headmaster of a boys’ grammar school and, as far as possible, with a staff of trained teachers. A class of student teachers was to be attached to every school, with special arrangements for training in the theory and practice of education.
