ABSTRACT

In ‘The Three Sisters’ the Moscow players have led their American admirers still another step into the mysteries of Russian realism, confirming once again the impression of their artistic mastery. A new milieu was suggested, a new atmosphere created, and new qualities were revealed in the art of half a dozen members of the company. By and large, Stanislavsky has given the American playgoer a vastly widened horizon in contemplating the art of the theatre and set a standard in the range and variety of ensemble acting that cannot be forgotten or neglected except to our own infinite loss.
