ABSTRACT
FRIEDRICH ENGELS was born on the 28th of November 1830 in Barmen. Like Marx, he did not acquire his revolutionary opinions in the home of his parents and he was not driven into revolutionary paths by personal indigence, but by high intelligence. His father was a well-to-do manufacturer of conservative and orthodox views, and religiously Engels had more to overcome than Marx.
