ABSTRACT
Leonid Rafailovich Shersher was born in Odessa in 1916. Leonid began to write poems while he was yet a schoolboy, even reading some of them on the radio and publishing others in Pionerskaya Pravda (Truth for Youth) newspaper. Between 1935 and 1940 he studied at the Philological Faculty of the Institute of History, Philosophy, and Literature in Moscow.
