ABSTRACT
Besides making and promoting policy on human rights and women’s issues, the United Nations has been actively engaged in creating development policy, examining and addressing economic, environmental, and health issues affecting the world. In this chapter, we discuss mainly economic development in the poorer nations of the world, but also global environmental politics, the battle with HIV/AIDS, and the concepts of sustainable development and sustainable human development.
