ABSTRACT
Reading-writing workshop is an energetic classroom model, which is why so many students, teachers, parents, and administrators like it so much. The energy comes from connectedness, motivation, engagement, confidence, building on continual successes, and just a pervasive sense of joy about the whole enterprise of going to school and learning. Energy is not just nice to have as we help students grow their ability to use language. Energy is essential.
