ABSTRACT
Differentiation is not a new concept. Each summer, I work with a group of students who will be interviewing for their first teaching position that year. As we brainstorm and prepare for interview questions, the vast majority respond that they expect a question about differentiation. They are most likely correct. Differentiation is mentioned in almost all frameworks for teaching—irrespective of which educational pundit’s framework your state or district has adopted. Differentiation is not an educational fad. Differentiation is best practice. Differentiation is hard! Differentiation is an instructional method in which many teachers have room for growth and need support along the way.
