ABSTRACT

Organizations acquire and then develop a Culture from their earliest beginnings. As companies merged and acquired, there was sometimes a melange of cultures even within the same legal entity. Hannah Jones leads Nike's Sustainable Business & Innovation team, with a goal to decouple growth from constrained resources through sustainable innovation. Engagement can in some cases create intrapreneurism because the business wants employees with ideas to run with them to advance sustainability. Element of a sustainability Culture, therefore, is fast becoming a willingness to embrace transparency. Transparency can enhance openness if a business is receptive to ideas from disparate sources from outside as well as inside an organization. The goal was to teach every employee in the company our business and environmental ethics and values. Organizations with strong cultures of sustainability strive to support a healthy environment and improve the lives of others while continuing to operate successfully over the long term.
