ABSTRACT

This chapter starts off with some basic microbiology, examining the nature of microbes and how they are classified into different groups, especially the pathogens. We then consider the consequences of infection, the diseases caused by microbes and finally the pharmacological action of the drugs used to treat microbial infection.
