ABSTRACT

The sources on which an ideal-typical Soviet model can be based are obvious and publicly recognised. Knowledge in the ideal-typical Soviet model is encyclopaedic. In the Soviet ideal-typical model, therefore, the main direction of social change and the adjustment in the attitude and morality of individuals to each new stage of development are not in dispute. The application of knowledge is vital to the development of Soviet society. Freedom, ideology, culture, patriotism and internationalism are all key terms in any description of the ideal-typical Soviet man. They should be interpreted in the light of the theory of society advocated by Marx and Engels in the 'Communist Manifesto'. Reference is constantly made by Soviet authors to K. Marx and Lenin as the founders of communism. Technological innovation is as necessary to the quality of life in a communist society as it is vital to the development of capitalism.
