ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book introduces a dynamic practitioner framework as a more nuanced way of reflecting upon coaching practice. It then introduces the concept of coaching the being and how this contrasts with most coaching approaches that are concerned with coaching doing or behaviour. The book unpacks the whole field of personal development, drawing upon own personal odyssey, and helps the reader assess their current level of development and review possible options for continued personal and professional development. It explores the proposition that Assagioli’s work brings something important to today’s challenges and crises of leadership. The book presents how psychosynthesis provides a psycho-spiritual psychology for coaches who want to want to work at the deepest level and in the most impactful way with their clients within the context of today’s emergent leadership challenges.
