ABSTRACT

As we expand our perspective from individual to group to organisation and hold the individual within the context of these larger systems, we can also expand our concept of personal development to one of leadership development. I will show how and why psychosynthesis is of particular value in supporting leadership development and how Assagioli’s model of individual self-actualisation and self-realisation can be enhanced by more recent works in developmental psychology. We will take coaching into the realm of leadership development. I start by distinguishing between horizontal, vertical and inner development and explore the relationship between these three aspects or domains. I will introduce Roger Evans’ Five Dimensions of Leadership as the core model for supporting the inner development of leaders for psychosynthesis coaches.
