ABSTRACT

We will focus on the challenges that leadership and leaders are facing today, how the fundamental relationship between the individual and the organisation has changed and the implications this has for coaching. The typical individual leader is facing mounting organisational challenges and performance pressures that bring corresponding personal stresses and psychological pressures. The boundaries between business and personal are becoming blurred and harder to manage. More to the point, being a leader these days has a very personal dimension that needs to be recognised and supported.

I will explore the proposition that Assagioli’s work brings something important to today’s challenges and crises of leadership. This will include an exposition of the current crises, and draw in particular upon The Act of Will, so as to illustrate the value and relevance of Assagioli’s message.
