ABSTRACT

Readers will find a clear guide and demonstration that informs on the steps to take when conducting an initial FLSD intake session with clients. This instructive chapter will be especially useful when working with more than one client at the same time, such as couples and families. The interactive, joining process facilitates assessment and the connection between therapist and clients of multiple member groups. The specific guidelines for conducting the projective, expressive therapy tool uses symbols as a way to get to know all members of a family group at the same time and defines the use of the symbols for each step. The symbolic assessment process follows ten steps and guides the counselor in an easy-to-follow process for gaining knowledge about the client and engaging positively in the client alliance, facilitating the therapeutic process.
